The Program for Trauma Recovery & Resilience Innovations (TRI), is a proud member of the UW Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences.
TRI was founded with a mandate to better serve people who have experienced trauma, plus their loved ones, community, and care providers. Through research, the testing and development of tools and programs, and private contract work that helps fund TRI, we’re making strides to steadily expand our understanding of trauma and recovery, while broadening access to and the implementation of proven strategies.
Trauma does not need to define your identity or dictate the course of your life.
We can’t stop trauma from happening, but we can work tirelessly to ensure as many people as possible have the support they need at each step along the path to healing. The best trauma recovery strategies are culturally mindful, rooted in science, and easy to understand and implement.
The Program for Trauma Recovery & Resilience Innovations (TRI) strives to broaden access to scientifically supported, culturally mindful, trauma recovery tools, strategies and trainings; improving successful outcomes by making such methods easier to understand and implement. We do this by developing, testing, and implementing new intervention programs and by adapting existing tools. Our work meets patients, their loved ones, and care providers where they are, approaching solutions with compassion, respect, kindness, and a deep understanding of the many unique needs and challenges people may face. We outreach to underserved communities, and through listening, learning, and collaboration, we help partners align methods and programs to best address the specific needs, preferences, and cultures of their clientele.
- The work we do is collaborative, we listen to and learn from community partners, people with lived experience, their loved ones, and other caregivers.
- We uphold the highest levels of ethics and integrity in our field of study.
- We meet the people we serve with empathy, compassion, honesty, and transparency.
- We follow through with our promises.
- We strive to provide pragmatic solutions – meeting people where they are with tools they can actually use.
- We manage expectations while providing hope at every possible turn.
